Dinso Resort & Villas by IHG Review: 12 Nights in Phuket

Dinso Resort & Villas is not a budget hotel — and after spending 12 nights there, I don’t think it should be judged like one.

I stayed in March 2026 and paid £2,235.93 for 12 nights, which works out at roughly £186 per night.

For that, I got a large double room with a balcony overlooking the surrounding foliage, a very comfortable bed, an excellent bathroom and shower, three different pools, a gym, restaurant, dedicated coffee and wine bar, spa facilities and some of the friendliest service I’ve experienced at a resort.

More importantly, the hotel managed to get its location exactly right for me.

It’s close enough to Patong that I could walk into the main area in around ten minutes, but tucked far enough away that I wasn’t living on top of the noise and nightlife.

After 12 nights, I didn’t leave thinking about what I’d change.

I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The short version

Dinso delivered almost everything I want from a luxury resort in Phuket: space, comfort, excellent pools, genuinely warm service and a location that was convenient without being chaotic.

The room was large and comfortable, the bed gave me consistently good sleep, and the balcony looked out over the green foliage surrounding the property.

Breakfast was delicious even if the selection became familiar over 12 mornings. The fresh papaya and dragon fruit quickly became part of my routine, and the coffee was good enough that I looked forward to it each morning.

The staff were one of the strongest parts of the stay. Little touches such as handing out mosquito spray or bringing around fresh pineapple and watermelon made the resort feel personal rather than corporate.

The only real caveat is price: this isn’t a cheap Phuket stay. But for a luxury resort experience, I felt the overall package justified what I paid.

The Room: Spacious, Calm and Comfortable

My room was a spacious double, and it immediately felt like somewhere I could comfortably spend nearly two weeks rather than simply somewhere to sleep.

There was plenty of floor space, a large comfortable bed, and a balcony looking out towards the foliage around the resort.

That view mattered more than I expected. Instead of opening the curtains onto traffic, buildings or nightlife, the greenery helped maintain the feeling that the hotel was tucked away from Patong even though the main area was still close.

The bathroom was another highlight. It felt properly premium, with a large shower and enough space that it didn’t feel like the hotel had prioritised the bedroom at the expense of everything else.

The bathroom and large walk-in shower.

Room verdict: ★★★★★  —  Spacious, comfortable and genuinely relaxing

Sleep: Exactly What I Needed

The bed was extremely comfortable and sleep quality was excellent throughout the stay.

That matters even more on a 12-night trip. A hotel bed can feel fine for a night or two and then become noticeably less comfortable over a longer stay. I never had that problem here.

Combined with the quieter location away from the busiest part of Patong, the room gave me exactly what I wanted at night: somewhere calm to properly switch off.

Sleep verdict: ★★★★★  —  Comfortable bed and a peaceful setting

Breakfast: Delicious, Even If It Became Familiar

Breakfast was delicious, although the options didn’t change very much from one morning to the next.

Over a 12-night stay that becomes noticeable, and more variation would have been welcome.

That said, what was there was satisfying enough that it never became a serious complaint.

I often had fresh papaya and dragon fruit, which became one of my favourite parts of the morning. I’m a sucker for fresh fruit anyway, and having it every day was both refreshing and an easy way to start the day.

The coffee was also very good — which matters to me more than it probably should.

I did discover an excellent coffee shop only a short walk from the hotel where a coffee worked out at roughly £1.20, so Dinso had some serious local competition.

Fresh papaya and dragon fruit became part of my breakfast routine.

Breakfast & food: ★★★★☆  —  Delicious, but more daily variety would improve it

Service: The Little Things Made the Difference

The service was terrific.

The staff were consistently friendly, but what stood out were the little touches that made the stay feel more personal.

There were practical things, like staff handing out free mosquito spray, and simple gestures such as coming around with fresh pineapple or watermelon.

Those moments sound small, but over a 12-night stay they change how a hotel feels.

The team never came across as though they were simply going through a five-star service checklist. We became friendly enough with one member of staff that they even came out to dinner with us.

That’s difficult to manufacture, and it ended up being one of the things I remembered most about the stay.

Service verdict: ★★★★★  —  Warm, friendly and genuinely personal

The Pools: Probably the Most Photogenic Part of the Resort

The pool areas looked incredible.

There were three different pools to choose from, including a striking multi-level setup integrated into the landscaping.

What I liked was that the pools didn’t feel like one big rectangular afterthought dropped into the middle of a resort. They were part of the architecture and greenery, which gave the whole property much more character.

The stonework, tropical planting, water features and raised walkways made the resort feel almost built into the landscape.

The resort’s dramatic landscaping and waterfall feature.

A wider view across the resort’s pools and greenery.

Pools: ★★★★★  —  Three options and some genuinely beautiful design

Facilities: More Than Enough for a Long Stay

For a stay this long, facilities matter.

Dinso had enough on site that I never felt trapped into leaving the property just to have something to do.

There was a gym where we could train, a restaurant, a dedicated bar focused on coffee and wine, and a spa offering higher-end treatments.

The lobby and communal areas also carried the same wood, stone and greenery-heavy design language as the rest of the resort, so the hotel felt coherent rather than like a collection of unrelated spaces.

Another relaxed seating area within the resort.

Facilities: ★★★★★  —  Gym, restaurants, coffee, wine and spa all on site

Location: Close to Patong Without Living in the Noise

For me, the location was close to ideal.

Patong is lively, busy and noisy. That’s part of the appeal when you want restaurants, nightlife or activity, but I wouldn’t necessarily want to sleep right on top of it for nearly two weeks.

Dinso sits far enough back that the resort feels quiet and peaceful, but the main area was still only around a ten-minute walk away.

That meant I could easily go out when I wanted to and then come back to somewhere that felt completely different.

It’s the kind of location I prefer in a resort: close to the action, not inside it.

Location: ★★★★★  —  Quiet and peaceful, with Patong still walkable

What I Loved Most

There wasn’t one single gimmick that made Dinso work for me. It was the consistency of the whole stay.

The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. The pools were beautiful. The service felt personal. The hotel was quiet without being isolated.

And then there were the things that became part of the routine: fresh papaya and dragon fruit every morning, good coffee, walking through greenery on the way around the resort, and being able to choose between several different pool areas.

After 12 nights, I still didn’t feel like I was ready to leave the hotel behind.

What Could Be Better?

There honestly wasn’t anything I disliked enough to describe as a meaningful negative.

If I had to improve one thing, it would be the breakfast rotation.

The food itself was very good, but staying for 12 nights made it obvious that the options changed very little.

A little more variety would make a long stay even better.

Beyond that, my main caution is simply the price. Dinso isn’t a budget Phuket hotel, and there are countless cheaper places to stay in Thailand.

But that’s also not really a fair comparison. If you’re specifically looking for a luxury resort, expecting budget-hotel pricing doesn’t make much sense.

Was £2,235.93 for 12 Nights Worth It?

For me, yes.

The total worked out at roughly £186 per night.

That’s not cheap for Thailand, and I wouldn’t pretend otherwise.

But I also wasn’t paying purely for a bed.

I was paying for a large room, a peaceful environment, three pools, excellent staff, spa and fitness facilities, very good food, a convenient location and a resort that actually felt like somewhere I wanted to spend time.

Over 12 nights, those things mattered.

Could I have stayed in Phuket for considerably less? Absolutely.

Would I personally rather pay less and give up what I liked about Dinso? Not necessarily.

I’d 100% pay the same again.

The Jet Lag & Champagne Verdict

★★★★★ — WORTH THE STAY

Room: Spacious, comfortable and premium.

Sleep: Excellent throughout the 12-night stay.

Service: One of the strongest parts of the hotel.

Pools: Beautiful and genuinely distinctive.

Facilities: More than enough for a longer stay.

Location: Peaceful but still only around ten minutes from Patong.

Value: Not budget, but worth what I paid.

Would I stay again? 100%.
